5 Money Tips in 60 Seconds

5 Money Tips in 60 Seconds

By Robert Pagliarini – Columnist for CBS MoneyWatch

Have you ever finished a book and thought the author should have just written an article? Most of the books I read fall into this category. Sure, there are some good points, but I shouldn’t have to spend most of my other 8 hours reading 300+ pages to extract a handful of nuggets. So when I came across a free ebook called Everything You Ever Really Needed to Know About Personal Finance on Just One Page, by Trent Hamm of The Simple Dollar blog, I was intrigued and a little skeptical. I needed 75 pages when I wrote my free personal finance ebook but Trent only needed one?! Something sounded fishy here and I intended to get to the bottom of it . . .

I downloaded his ebook and it turns out it is actually 49 pages! But, if you don’t have an extra hour in your other 8 hours, he brilliantly captures pretty much everything you need to know to one page with some nice hand drawings:

  1. Spend less than you earn.
  2. Live frugal.
  3. Earn more.
  4. Manage money.
  5. Control your own destiny.

Bam! That’s it! Everything you need to know about personal finance in 60 seconds. I highly recommend you download it now. Here are a few takeaways that I particularly appreciated:

  • Get educated. You don’t have to quit your job and go back to school, but you should continuously learn new things.
  • Start a side business. Indeed! Stop watching so much TV and start something on the side.
  • Keep an idea notebook in your pocket. Good ideas can come (and usually do) at anytime of the day. Make sure you have a way to capture them.
  • Hit the library. I’m a big fan of using the library. Excellent and free resource you shouldn’t pass up.

Of course, not all of his advice is this good. He recommends you cut your own hair (uh, no) and make your own beer/wine (again, no thanks). But there are many gems of wisdom you should check out.

Again, it’s free and a wonderful use of your other 8 hours. Download Everything You Ever Really Needed to Know About Personal Finance on Just One Page now.

For a limited time, you can download several free resources (assessment, poster, audio interview, video, and more) at www.other8hours.com and learn more about my new book, The Other 8 Hours: Maximize Your Free Time to Create New Wealth & Purpose.

Hi There! It’s a WordPress template from http://www.woothemes.com, but it’s been customized a lot. Check out their themes though, I’ve used them for years…
